The 2015 FIBA Asia Championship has advanced past the Group Stage as we get into the Knock-out Round. But, first we look at consolation games. Hong Kong lost to Jordan recently to finish Group E in sixth place, while Kazakhstan lost to Palestine and finished Group F in sixth. Kazakhstan has won three straight over Hong Kong. Unfortunately, Hong Kong will be relegated to the consolation games, where the highest they can finish is ninth place. Kazakhstan, the team went without a win in Group F. According to the Kazakhstan vs Hong Kong 2015 FIBA Asia Championship Odds at Bodog Basketball, Kazakhstan are favored by -14.5 points over the underdog Hong Kong (+600). Here is our Hong Kong vs Kazakhstan 2015 FIBA Asia Championship prediction.
Japan utilized a strong third quarter push to blow out Hong Kong, 89-62, in Group E of the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship. Japans size and overall talent were too much for Hong Kong. Hong Kong was paced by Wong Chun Wai’s 14 points, while Duncan Reid had 10 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.
Hong Kong did well in the early goings, leading by as many as 7 points with 8:20 to go in the second period. Japan, however, flipped the switch at that moment, uncorking a 19-4 run to close the half with an 8-point lead.
Hong Kong was visibly overmatched, but they still played admirably.
Kazakhstan, with point guard Jerry Johnson not playing, turned the ball over 20 times. Korea had 14 steals, including three apiece.
The Bottom Line: the Kazaks haven’t won a game in Group Stage and their not about to start now. I like Hong Kong to cover the spread.
